Jane Jacobs Walk - Patterson Park, Baltimore, Maryland

Jane Jacobs argued that parks should be integrated into a vibrant urban environment, not separate, sterile spaces. In essence, she suggests that parks are not just places to play, but also places to learn, interact, and participate in the vibrant life of the city. By integrating parks into a diverse and active urban environment, cities can create spaces that are both safe and engaging for all residents, fostering a stronger sense of community and promoting educational opportunities for children. Patterson Park is the perfect example to illustrate how right Jane Jacobs is. In this walk Friends of Patterson Park , Audubon Center , Hampstead Hill Academy , Library Square Montessori , and Patterson Park Charter School will tell us how they relate to this park where children, families and teachers learn about nature, enjoy and take care of a vibrant community space for all the neighbors and visitors to enjoy.
